At Firefly Pediatric Therapy, we focus on connection before correction. We recognize that children are doing the best they can with the skills and support they have. By building regulation, trust, and understanding first, we create the foundation for meaningful and lasting growth.
Fireflies, to me, are a reminder that growth doesn't have to look linear, and light doesn't have to be steady to be real. They don't demand attention — they just show up, steady and quiet, and shine in their own way.
Kids are a lot like that. Every child has their own rhythm, their own way of being in the world. Sometimes that light is easy to see, and sometimes it shows up in smaller, quieter moments — moments that can be missed if we're only looking for what's typical or expected.
Not everything is constant. Not everything is predictable. And that's not something to fix — it's something to understand.
Fireflies remind me to slow down and notice those moments. To meet kids where they are, not where we think they should be. Because nothing about a child needs to be changed to be meaningful.
Sometimes it's the environment, the expectations, or the pace that needs to shift.
When we do that, kids don't just "improve" — they start to shine in ways that were always there. My role is to notice the light, support it, and help it grow.
